Sunday Festivities
Today was one of those surprising days, where things just naturally fell into place, all unplanned, which is what I love, and full of a variety of events, interactions, and conversations.
As usual, I spent my morning teaching the primary sunday school children at church. This week we focused our lesson on the topic of prayer from the book of Luke. We had a smaller class than usual today, mostly I suspect due to the Anzac Day long weekend.
It was good to see Veronica back having been away last week, and having sat next to Jennifer today, it was encouraging to see her thinking for herself, and being confident to share her thoughts with the group. Jennifer also happened to turn 11 today too.
Happy Birthday!
I spent lunch with Jon L at Crows Zone cafe in Crows Nest, where I ordered a smoked salmon salad, with rocket (a personal fav), and goats cheese, sprinkled with balsamic vinegar; served with what has been my recent coffee preference, flat white.
I found the goats cheese in my salad was a bit too strong for my liking, but overall I enjoyed the meal, the bitterness in my coffee, though it could have been hotter (yes, I'm particular, I like it piping hot), and the conversation.
After Jon left, and I settled the bill, I wandered what happened to be a country festival being held in the streets of Crows Nest. I found myself embracing the warm afternoon festive atmosphere surrounded by music, dance, and a relaxed cheerful crowd.
There's nothing quite like stumbling upon a festival to add some life into the afternoon. It made me remember a time, gosh, probably back in 2000 when I stumbled upon the coffee festival at the Rocks, and ended up spending the better half of the afternoon wandering around tasting coffee.
Mmm. * smiles *
Wandering aimlessly through the stalls browsing at little trinkets, and random arts, crafts, and food stuff is always fun. I bought my mum a bean filled red neck rest for our trip to the States in a couple of weeks, and I got myself a long overdue, and needed head/neck rest for my evening baths in an ocean aqua blue fabric with purple trimmings.
I also considered buying some japanese designed plates/bowls to use to as decorative storage pieces, and some floral printed coasters, which like the japanese plate/bowls didn't really need, but just liked.
There are many beautiful things in the world that captures my eyes, and fortunately for me, fewer things that captures my heart. Indulging my eyes was fun, while it lasted.
Speaking of which, I'm looking forward to having my eyes spolit with the natural wonders of the Grand Canyon, and the Niagra Falls in a few weeks time.
I hope to be able to keep blog posted on all my adventures.
And I sense I've digressed. Oh well. I'm in a good mood. So, bite me.
