Two Pieces Of Bread

Here are some simple tasty sandwich ideas inspired from the lunch I had today.

Tandoori Chicken served with a yogurt cheese cream spread, sprinkled with freshly chopped mint, sliced pumpkin pieces, and green leaves - lettuce for a crunch, baby cos for lightness, or rocket for slight bitterness.

Turkey served with fresh pesto spread (or cranberry sauce), thinly sliced melt in your mouth cheese, avocado sprinkled with grated fresh pepper, steamed carrots thinly sliced, and green leaves. See above.

Serve either of the above with freshly baked or toasted bread. Speaking of baking bread.... it's reminded me of this post.

Beans, And All Things Soy

While I'm on the topic of all things food related. Uncle Mike cooked us a meal with fresh soybeans whilst we were staying with them in San Francisco.

Their local Asian grocery shop rocked! They had all these cool ingredients and food products from Japan, Korea, China, Hong Kong you name it. I had a lot of fun browsing around tantalizing with ideas about what I could potentially try, and experiment with.

My excitement aside, at our local Asian food supplier, guess what Mum found!? Yes, you guessed it, fresh soybeans! And guess what we had for dinner the last couple of nights, amongst other things?! Yes, you guessed it again! Soybeans! Served with tofu, and diced pork.

My sister pretty much cleaned up all the soybeans on Monday night, since I came home late. Last night, the tables were turned, hehe. Since I got home before her, I had the joy of scooping up pallets of soybeans, and stirring it amongst my rice like a hot pot.

It's fun biting into them. They split in half in your mouth, and reveal a different texture, and it helps that they look cute too. Haha.

Next time, I would definitely suggest an extra pack, or two.

Sisters

Speaking of my sister, she's been home the past two nights. It's been wonderful to have her home.

It's always refreshing to chat, mingle, and pass time together, like the years have never passed.

I do miss her when she's away.

Books Books and More Books !

I went shopping at Koorong after work yesterday. Jenny, a friend from work, was interested in having a look was keen to come along for the ride. She took up a couple of my suggestions, and I picked up some goodies for myself, and others, including a book for my sister, which I gave her last night.

For myself, I selected a couple of books for some light reading – namely 'Miracles' by CS Lewis, and one for more serious study – namely 'In Understanding Be Men' by TC Hammond, along with some guides on a couple of OT books I'm interested in getting more familiar with.

I seem to have this insatiable appetite for books! I don't know where it comes from, but it's there. Either way, I'm looking forward what new things my inquisitive mind will be captured by.

A Heart With Wings

If there was one thing that I really enjoy about my drive to and from work everyday, it is the songs. The music I listen to that gives my heart wings, and draws my soul close to God.

Here is one, amongst too many to mention, that has recently been consuming my thoughts and prayers.

I wonder how it must have felt
When David stood to face Goliath on a hill
I imagine that he shook with all his might
Until You took his hand, and held on tight

'Cause You were there, You were there
In the midst of danger's snare
You were there, You were there always

You were there when the hardest fight
Seemed so out of reach
Oh, You were there, You were always there

You were always there

So there he stood upon that hill
Abraham with knife in hand was poised to kill
But God in all his sovereignty had bigger plans
And just in time, You brought a lamb

'Cause You were there,
You were there
In the midst of the unclear
You were there, you were there always

You were there when obedience
Seemed to not make sense
You were there, You were always there
You were always there

So haven't I learned that my ways
Aren't as high as Yours are
And You alone keep the universe
From crumbling into dust
You are God and though we would
Not have understood You
There You were

Hanging blameless on a cross
You would rather die than leave us in the dark
Every moment, every planned coincidence
Just all makes sense
With Your last breath

You were there, You were there
During history's darkest hour
You were there, You were there always

You were the Victor and the King
You were the power in David's swing
You were the calm in Abraham
You are the God who understands
You are the strength when we have none
You are the living, Holy one
You were, You are and You will always be
the Risen Lamb of God
You were, You are and You will always be
The Risen Lamb of God

- You Were There by Avalon

The words aren't the same without the musical score. Much like how a violin isn't the same without the bow. However, it does give an insight into the themes it touches, and the depth it reaches.
