Ends of the Earth
I've been reading Acts lately. Not that I haven't before. But I'm seeing it with new and fresh eyes (thanks to Matthias Media). Timely with the issue of the Holy Spirit being on the agenda of late. It's an awesome book. Nothing beats some good quality time with the bible. And Boy I've missed it! It's not to say that I haven't been reading it, more that it's been here and there. Inconsistent. Guidance helps. But when it's something solid - a good hard look into the word of God. Letting it challenge your mind and your heart. That is when it blows you away. It's like coming home to a good hearty home cooked meal after days and days of eating out. The chunky stuff. Actually it's wayyy better than that!
Awe inspiring.
Those would be the words to describe it.
Speaking of getting into the word of God, my housegroup began looking into 1 Thessalonians a couple of weeks ago. There's something special with reading through a book together verses reading through a book on your own. It takes a different dimension. It's neither better nor worse. Just different. Having both is a good balance. In a group you're challenged differently as you share, debate and ask the hard theological questions. It's awesome! Speaking of theological questions, Dan asked a good one last night. It made me smile. We only scratched the surface but it would have been good if we had the time to go into it more. It related to 1 Thess 2:16 and the use of past tense.
It was deep.
Such are the ways of God.
