Refiner's Fire
The last couple of evenings have been calm, mellow and sweet. It's been a welcomed change in mood and pace.
I spent the latter half of this evening in the kitchen whisking up a treat - warm sago pudding with a dash of cinnamon and coconut milk alongside Mum who was preparing pumpkin soup for tomorrow evening. It turned out better than I had anticipated. Perfect for the winter chill.
Work was good today. All the pieces in the jigsaw puzzle are starting to come together. The TVC, online activity, point of sale collateral, radio and magazine development. It's been satisfying. Not without it's challenges, points of conflict and negotiation, and time pressures, but then again, without it, it wouldn't be the same.
I'm back tracking now, but the weekend was a fascinating one. Oh, speaking of which, we've got ourselves new set of wheels after our accident on the weekend!
Back to my point, speaking of the weekend, boy oh boy was it interesting. I can't recall a weekend quite like it. That or I'm getting old. I must be getting old.
It was filled with a diverse range of activity, conversations and interactions. Refreshing for the most part. Insightful in others.
I've also started reading again! Hardly headline news. I'm often flicking through a handful of books at any given time.
I'm recalling the recent observations of a friend when we visited Borders of what turned out to be a random 'holiday Sunday' together the other weekend in Pitt St. A casual Sunday at Gloria Jeans with not one, not two, but yeah, maybe three or four books in hand. No surprises with my order. Chai tea! Ah, life doesn't get better than that. So simple, yet so real.
But yes, I digress. I'm reading again. What I was saying is that in the handful of books that I carry at any one time there is often a gem. The 'I can't put you down' type of reads. Books that has the power to make my whole being sing 'wow'.
I'm in one of those at the moment. So my heart, mind and soul are currently displaying the same wonderful expression - a smile.
