Tears

Not too long ago, maybe about a month or two now, I wanted to watch a movie that promised tears. And not just any tears, but tears by the bucket loads. I just needed a good cry, and sought a conduit. Permission if you will.

A movie normally does the trick so after racking my brains for a few titles The Notebook came to mind. Interestingly enough, it wasn't quite what the doctor ordered. The effect wasn't quite the same the second time through.

Gattaca has always been one of my personal favs and though it was a movie I had only seen once a number of years ago it left an enduring impression on me. The themes - loyalty, passion, persistence and the tenacity of the human spirit are very similar to another one of my, and many others, all time favs - The Shawshank Redemption.

Though I didn't expect it to, Gattaca that did the trick. Maybe not by the bucket loads. But it hit the spot.
