Let's Talk. Yes Let's.

"There is no perfection this side of heaven."

This statement prompted a stimulating, often rare, and most welcomed conversation with Shawn, the colleague I sit next to, day in and day out, everyday at work.

The statement was prompted by another colleague - whose personality is vibrant to say the least. And who often have many exaggerated complimentary statements to bestow upon all that passes his way.

To cut a long story short, this larger than life colleague opted to tell me how everything I could and would do would be perfect. A rather bold statement, to which I responded casually with how I would never make such claims as there was no such thing as perfection this side of heaven.

This prompted my colleague, Shawn, to ask a series of wonderful and mind intriguing questions. How I love a deep thinker.

Initially I was amused, and entertained him with beams of laughter. Not to be rude, but because I clearly wasn't expecting the discussion that was to follow.

But soon enough I was taken in.

It is always a thrill to engage with a conceptual, articulate, considered, honest, thought provoking, big picture thinker.

The conversation started with the concept of perfection and the idea of perfection in the world relative to perfection in heaven. Without going into detail, we soon entered into discussions about the concept of time, concepts of the mind, the role of emotion and experience, concepts of being, the physical verse the metaphysical, and eventually into the concept of man and man's responsibility on earth. That is, before the reality of work seeped back into our consciousness.

It was fascinating conversation. A definite highlight to my day amongst a few other wonderful things such as the majestic heavenly display on my drive into work this morning.
