Lots To Write Home About

Wow! What a weekend. I'm back! To what or where I'm still a little unsure. This is how far I was transported this long weekend. Both far, and away - where time meant nothing, and the days were simply slow and magical.

These were some of the highlights:
  • Sleeping in.
  • Sleeping in some more.
  • Finding a good hot stew at a local Irish pub when a good hot stew was what we were after.
  • Reading.
  • Reading some more.
  • Swimming in the pool each evening and floating on the water admiring the stars in the sky.
  • Sun.
  • And more sun.
  • Swimming in the ocean with the rain and the sun.
  • Cooking.
  • Cooking some more.
  • Seeing a lizard cross the road near the beach. The tail was double the length of it's body!
  • Saunas.
  • Not knowing what day it was.
  • Not knowing what time of the day it was.
  • No crowds.
  • Wide streets.
  • Slow paced living.
  • Feeling like I was anywhere but here.
  • Dogs. Lots of them!
  • Good quality fish n' chips.
  • Ocean coastline driving.
  • Great lounging cafe.
  • Scents of rose and lavender.
  • Beachside dining.
  • Frittatas
  • Pancakes with honey, cinnamon, lemon, parmasean and fetta cheese. Sometimes all at once!
  • Tea.
  • And more tea.
  • Pumpkin
  • Asparagus
  • Mushrooms
  • Potatos. Lots of potatos!
  • Morning walks along the beach. And to the next beach, and the next...
  • Connecting at church.
  • Long distant driving.
  • Ipod.
  • Silence.
  • More silence.
  • Fresh air.
  • Driving through a rainforest. Of sorts.
  • Starting my book.
  • Finishing my book.

It was a trip of learnings too. Here is a list of new experiences or things I learnt to appreciate at a new level:

  • Why men (generally speaking) like to leave the TV on in the background even when they're not watching it. Note: there were no men on this trip.
  • Channel flicking.
  • Lying in bed; channel flicking.
  • A love for the sports channel on TV. And for the record, a man who is into his sport is a great and wonderful thing!
  • Staying up till midnight watching the Masters replay.
  • Getting up at 7am to watch the final round of the Masters. I don't know what happened to sleeping in that morning. Must be the men theme happening.
And sharing ALL this with a great friend.

The past few days have captured the heart of what a perfect day means to me. Thank you Mish. It was a real pleasure to travel with you!
