Going Back 20 Years

It's my uncle and aunt's 50th birthday in a few weeks and my cousins are throwing a surprise party. A family get together. I can't wait.

Mum and I have been sifting through photographs, many which date back before I was even born, in attempt to find a 'young' picture of my aunt and uncle to present to them as part of their birthday gift.

Many things turned up from within the pictures. It was a scream. The fashion. The hair dos. The wedding photos. The baby photos. The family photos. Photos captured moments in time across generations.

It was a really heart warming experience. Some parts were just hilarious. A picture of my grandmother hugging my brother twenty odd years ago 'got me'.

I really loved her passion. Her life. Her tenacity. Her love. It reminded me of a photo of my brother with my grandmother taken twenty or so years later. This time with him directing affection towards her. It was taken on his birthday during her weaker and latter years.

If there is one thing I miss, it is my grandparents, and though I never knew my grandmother as well as I would have liked, from what I did know, and what I discovered during my time in Hong Kong and Shanghai her memory is still very much alive in my heart.
