The Simple Things In Life
I spent the better half of this afternoon in Hornsby. Yes. Hornsby. Away from the crowds, away from the trends. Just simply, away.
I found myself outside a nice cafe, ordered a chai latte and read some notes I brought along with me.
The chai latte was perfect. The temperature - hot. The froth - one of the best I've ever experienced. And the cinnamon and sugar sprinkled on the outer edge of the cup resting comfortably amongst the froth was the cherry on top. It was the perfect way to spend a still afternoon - alone.
The cafe was set in a backdrop of the local community. Filtered daylight instilled the atmosphere and weekly shoppers moved around and below me. My spirit sat and rejoiced in its stillness amongst the movement of life.
I love the relationships that define my life. But solitude is a past time I simply treasure. The simplicity of spending time recollecting. Of meditating. Of observing. Of simply loving a life filled with immense beauty, complexity and depth.
