Annointings of Gold
"Brief life is here our portion,
Brief sorrow, short-lived care;
The life that knows no ending,
The tearless life is there.
There God, our King and Portion,
In fullness of His grace,
We then shall see for ever,
And worship face to face."
Bernard of Cluny
This short, but simple poem is taken from Tozer's 'Knowledge of the Holy'. I love, not only the truths it conveys, but the emotions spoken behind the words.
It speaks with a keen sense of one's own mortality, removed from despair or apathy, but with humble acceptance of its reality.
Without spiraling into what could easily become long-winded introversion, the prose quickly finds one's mortality contrasted to the one Eternal, and the reality that is found there.
A contrite spirit from one's initial sober thoughts ends instead with a heart full of joy and wonder - rejoicing at a confident hope that one knows from within.

:) that reminds me of the original last verse of the hymn 'Amazing Grace' that Chris Tomlin uses in his version. Remember how I was telling you about it? Here it is:
The earth shall soon dissolve like snow
The sun forbear to shine
But God, Who called me here below
Will be forever mine
Yes! I do!
And yes those lyrics resound loud and clear even as I read them! :)
Thanks for bringing such praise in my life! You are such a blessing! :)
How great is out God (excuse the pun) :P :D
